We place a high priority the value of education—what matters most is that no student is left to fall behind due to a lack of information or resources. Current literature unequivocally demonstrates that young students benefit significantly when given social support, such as in the form of a healthy mentor-mentee relationship. In filling this crucial niche, we strive to assist our students with finding tangible resources that will give them the skills and experiences to succeed. More than this, we hope to cultivate growth mindsets within our students so they can encounter both success and failure with the attitude of constant learning.
Inspire to Aspire serves at-risk and underprivileged high school students in the Greater Sacramento area by pairing them with student mentors from the University of California, Davis. Our mentors create individualized 2-year plans for the students and meet with them on a regular basis to help bring this plan into fruition. In addition, Inspire to Aspire collaborates with esteemed psychologists Dr. Philip Zimbardo of Stanford and Dr. Jordan Peterson of the University of Toronto, whose programs will be utilized to enhance the mentorship process (See “Collaborations” for more).
